This is an annual opportunity, held on a Saturday in the autumn, for any singer to spend a day exploring choral repertoire and singing technique with like-minded singers in a convivial atmosphere. At the end of the afternoon, the work is performed alongside professional soloists
Our next Sing Day will be on Saturday October 10th 2020 at Hemsley House on the Crescent (A6), M5 4PE (opposite Salford University and Salford Art Gallery and Museum), led by our Music Director Tom Newall. We will be exploring Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle.
Tom trained at Durham University and at the RNCM. Over the past ten years, Tom has held principal conductor
positions with a variety of ensembles, including Durham University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras,
Chesterfield Symphony Orchestra, and Warrington Youth Symphony Orchestra. He is currently Music Director
for Salford Choral Society, Leeds Youth Opera and Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra. Tom has also worked
on a number of education projects in Leeds, Newcastle and Hull with Opera North. In September 2013, Tom
founded a new symphony orchestra based in Manchester, Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra, providing
performance opportunities for emerging professional musicians.
A member of the staff of the RNCM since 1979, Roderick has performed with many leading singers and instrumentalists, has recorded for Hyperion Records, and has broadcast on BBC 3, local radio and television.
Roderick has been official accompanist to Salford Choral Society since 1985, and has appeared as concerto soloist with Sale Chamber Orchestra and the Northern Chamber Orchestra.
