This is an annual opportunity, held on a Saturday in the autumn, for any singer to spend a day exploring choral repertoire and singing technique with like-minded singers in a convivial atmosphere.
At the end of the afternoon, the work is performed alongside professional soloists.
Regrettably, we have had to postpone the Sing Day originally scheduled for Saturday October 3rd 2020 owing to uncertainties about possible restrictions related to Covid-19.
We intend to move the Sing Day to a date in January/February 2021, when our Music Director Tom Newall will be exploring Brahms' A German Requiem.
The events are held at Hemsley House on The Crescent (A6), M5 4PE (opposite Salford University and Salford Art Gallery and Museum).
These are just some of the comments received after previous Sing Days – many by repeat attenders!
'Lots of fun and well-organised. Conductor made it a good sing as well as teaching ways to improve singing.'
‘Conductor did an excellent job getting us to concentrate on the difficult passages. Couldn’t be improved, well done!’
‘Loved every minute. Great atmosphere, efficient organisation, enough breaks to talk to people and a wonderful sing.’
‘Very welcoming atmosphere – friendly fellow singers from the Salford choir. Organisation superb and fast tracked during registration. You could teach the Bridgewater Hall Come & Sing a thing or two!!’
‘Very nice and friendly people (especially stewards). Very good conductor and accompanist and great idea!’
‘Salford needs to do more of these.’
